The White House border czar said to \u201cexpect action\u201d in Chicago this week without offering any specific details during a CNN appearance Sunday morning.<\/p>\n
President Donald Trump and his administration have been threatening to send Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and National Guard troops to Chicago.<\/p>\n
But troops have yet to appear, and increased immigration enforcement has yet to be seen. Gov. JB Pritzker said last week<\/a> he expects immigration raids to target the city during Mexican Independence Day festivities.<\/p>\n CNN\u2019s Jake Tapper asked border czar Tom Homan on Sunday if \u201cwe should expect action in Chicago this week?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAbsolutely, you can expect action in most sanctuary cities across the country,\u201d Homan said. \u201cWe got to send additional resources to the problem areas, which are sanctuary cities.\u201d<\/p>\n But Homan did not say when the \u201caction\u201d would happen, what it would entail and if National Guard troops would be involved. Homan defended using National Guard troops to assist ICE agents in their operations despite the fact that troops wouldn\u2019t make arrests.<\/p>\n \u201cThe National Guard does provide protection for us, provides us infrastructure, provides us transportation, provides us additional processing capabilities,\u201d Homan said. \u201cThey\u2019re a force multiplier, and they\u2019re on the table.\u201d<\/p>\n Tapper also questioned Homan about Trump appearing to declare war<\/a> on Chicago in a Saturday social media post.<\/p>\n \u201cI think [Trump\u2019s] words are being taken out of context,\u201d Homan said. \u201cWe\u2019re going to war with the criminal cartels. We\u2019re going to war with illegal aliens, public safety threats.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
