ANCHORAGE, Alaska \u2014 President Trump is meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska today, a momentous summit on American soil<\/a> with a leader isolated by the West over his invasion of Ukraine.<\/p>\n

Trump, who pledged a quick end to the war<\/a> in Ukraine during his 2024 campaign, projected confidence ahead of the Anchorage summit \u2014 noting his strong relationship with the Russian leader.<\/p>\n

“Look, he’s a smart guy. He’s been doing it for a long time, but so have I,” Trump told reporters traveling with him on Air Force One to Alaska. “We get along. It’s a good respect level on both sides. And I think, you know, something is going to come up.”<\/p>\n
